As the summer transfer window approaches, one player who has been attracting attention is Diego Costa, who recently signed for Atletico Madrid on loan from Chelsea. In fact, he only managed to start 16 league games during the 2017-18 season, and his form suffered as a result. Despite this, Morata continued to impress defensively, making 25 assists in all competitions during the 2017-18 season. His defensive work also earned him a spot on the PFA Young Player of the Year award shortlist. Overall, Morata's time at Atlético Madrid was a mixed bag, but it was clear that he had the potential to be a top-class striker if given the right opportunities.
