LONDON, ENGLAND – Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has signed a new contract with the club until 2021.

Boateng was born on February 9, 1988, in Berlin and began his career at 1FC Magdeburg before joining FC Augsburg in 2006.

He made his Bundesliga debut for Augsburg in 2007 and quickly established himself as one of their most important players.

In June 2014, he moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he spent two seasons, making 55 appearances in all competitions.

Boateng returned to Germany in January 2016, signing for Schalke 04.
